DEVILS FIRE UP FOR 2008
March 13th, 2008

The Norwich Devils senior team stepped up their warm up programme Sunday with a preseason scrimmage against one of last year's division 2 opponents, the Essex partans.

Despite having several key players out of action, the Devils still looked sharp and showed they have progressed well in preparation for the new season which starts in earnest in April. Despite this progress, they are still looking to recruit both new and experienced players, as well as sideline staff for this year.

The Devils, who last season went unbeaten for the season on their way to winning the Division 2 Championship Bowl game in Sheffield, are preparing for life in Division 1 in 2008. They will be part of the Southern Conference which also contains teams from Sussex, Hampshire, Oxford and Kent, as well as renewing their old rivalry with the Ipswich Cardinals.

Although Division 1 is the second tier of American football in this country, behind the elite Premier Division, it will still be a big step up in standard from last year and will provide a testing schedule for head coach Nick Rockell and his team.

The season starts for real with a home game against the Oxford Saints on Sunday 13th April. The team will again be playing their home games at the Hewitt school in Norwich.
If you are interested in joining the team in a playing, coaching or a backroom capacity, please contact Pete Wrigley by telephone on 01603 412797 or by email to press@norwichdevils.com.
