NORWICH DEVILS 2007 REGULAR SEASON
GAME 1 - APRIL 13th, 2008
NORWICH DEVILS YOUTH 24
TAMWORTH PHOENIX YOUTH 0

April 13th, 2008 by Pete Wrigley

Devils Youth

The Norwich Devils youth team got off to a winning start on Sunday with a convencing win over the Tamworth Phoenix.

The Devils got off to the perfect start when Aaron Wheatley ran in for the first score early in the first quarter and quickly followed it up when quarterback Sam Webb found Dan Tidy for a touchdown pass, to take a 12 point lead. Wheatley then ran in for another score in the second half before impressive rookie Aaron Roberts rounded off the scoring with another touchdown run.

The Devils defense remained strong throughout to keep the Phoenix scoreless, helped by standout cornerback Liam Moralee who came up with two interceptions. It was a great start for new head coach Alex Scott who after the game commented "It was nice to get my coaching career off to a winning start. The boys played extremely well, particularly the defense who managed a shutout. Our offense moved the ball well and took their opportunities. That said, we can still improve and need to work on our special teams a bit more."

As with the senior team, the Devils Youth now wait until 4th May for their next game when they entertain Colchester as the first part of another double header, after which the seniors take on Southern Sundevils.
